I’ve just been diagnosed with an arrhythmia.

I’ve been told by my gp it atrial fibrillation, I’m terrified. I’m being put on medication because my heart beats too fast, and irregularly.

What does this mean for me?

I haven’t a clue and not been given much information from my gp.

  1. I’m sorry to hear that, that’s terrifying. I hope some comfort will come when your gp explains more about it. I knew a woman back in a biology course, she was my lab partner, who had some kind of heart problem, I think a type of arrhythmia and something else . . . damnit, I can’t remember, but I remember the shock on our faces (she was maybe in her early twenties) and how she laughed us off and said she still exercises and does what she needs to do in daily life. I hope you are able to find the same kind of contentment she’s grown to have.

    1. That’s interesting. I guess before I found out I was still trying to exercise even though I felt very weak, so in that sense nothing has changed, I just have a name for the condition. Thank you for sharing. I’m going to be 25 this year, so kinda similar ages. xxxx
